Kylie Millbern is a mediator, trainer and organizational consultant at The Mediation Group. She is also an administrator assisting fellow panel members and clients in a variety of ways. 

Since joining TMG, Kylie has worked with the organizational team on numerous projects involving unions, local municipalities, educational entities, healthcare organizations and non-profits. She currently spearheads the intake process of TMG’s pilot workplace mediation program with the Boston Public Schools. Besides mediating, other projects include conducting climate assessments, facilitating group processes, and developing and delivering trainings. Workshop topics have included: “Mediation 101”; “Difficult Conversations”; “Effective Communication”; “Giving and Receiving Feedback”; “Negotiation”; “How to Run Effective Meetings”. Kylie enjoys getting to know the inner workings of an organization and challenging the status quo. 

Kylie is a member of TMG’s Racial Justice Steering Committee. The group is focused on exploring and expanding our understanding of the effects of bias, racism and social inequities within our own workplace, the ADR community, and surrounding communities, and of becoming allies with others dedicated to addressing these issues. Kylie is committed to diversity, equity and inclusion in and out of the workplace. 

Outside of TMG, Kylie has volunteered as a Small Claims Court mediator in Dorchester and Quincy Courts. She enjoys applying her facilitation skills in different settings, including with the City of Cambridge’s Participatory Budget Process. She is a permanency mediator with Plummer Youth Promise where she mediates unique issues for children in the foster care system and helps to develop cooperative permanency plans. She is interested in Restorative Justice practices and has taken level one and two trainings with Communities for Restorative Justice (C4RJ). Kylie is a member of the International Ombuds Association (IOA) and serves as an ombuds at Brandeis University.

Kylie completed her Master’s degree in Conflict Resolution at the University of Massachusetts, Boston. Her Master’s project took her to the Middle East where she worked with Ultimate Peace, a coexistence sports program, uniting Israeli and Palestinian youth through Ultimate Frisbee. Kylie created an evaluation program that was continued and adapted through a partnership between UMass Boston and Ultimate Peace. She received the Ambassador John W. McDonald Award for Leadership and Innovation in Global Governance and Conflict Resolution for her work on the project. While at UMass Boston, Kylie assisted faculty as a process consultant for a graduate level class within the Department of Conflict Resolution, Human Security, and Global Governance.
